About Dewey Arizona

In the beautiful high desert of Northern Arizona, just twelve miles east of Prescott and eighty-five miles north of Phoenix, there is a lovely small community called Dewey-Humboldt. The town is situated at an elevation of 4,556 feet, which affords a mild four-season climate and even occasional snow during the winters. The town’s offices can be found at the intersection of Main Street and State Route 69. Dewey-Humboldt wasn’t officially incorporated until 2004, and it was then the town’s boundaries were defined, and it received its name. Prior to this, Dewey and Humboldt were two very different communities; Dewey with a ranching and agricultural history, and Humboldt with a history in mining. It was the fear of being annexed by the growing community of Prescott Valley and losing the low-density, rural charm of the area that led Dewey and Humboldt to join forces and incorporate.

Today Dewey-Humboldt’s town motto is “Arizona’s Country Town,” and that is certainly fitting. With a population of fewer than 4,000 residents, the town boasts stunning natural beauty and many wide-open spaces. Situated in the Agua Fria River Valley, the town also has many gently rolling hills. Prospective homebuyers wanting a peaceful, small-town lifestyle with a lot of privacy and quiet will absolutely love this place. The town is also popular among horse lovers, as the residential lot sizes are large, and acreage is common. Many lots in Dewey-Humboldt are at least a half-acre, and most are over one-and-a-half-acres in size. Homes for sale in Dewey-Humboldt include affordable starter properties for first-time homebuyers, as well as sprawling upgrades. The varied ages and sizes of properties in Dewey-Humboldt contribute to listing prices falling across a wide price range.

Dewey-Humboldt is comprised of twenty square miles with a handful of amenities that include historical points of interest, entertainment, and dining. The D-H Museum is one such destination, as is Billy Jack’s Bar & Grill, Butte Street Park, and Leff-T’s Steakhouse. One of the biggest attractions of Dewey-Humboldt is perhaps Mortimer Farms and its charming country store. In the fall, the Farm hosts a Pumpkin Fest featuring fire dancers, a ten-acre corn maze, and a haunted house. Although there aren’t a lot of amenities within the town, State Route 69 and State Route 169 pass through the community, making it easy to take advantage of nearby attractions.
