Here are some events coming up in May that everyone in your family is sure to love.
Reveille 3’s Canteen Club – May 1st
This act is a musical tribute to LaVerne, Patty and Maxene Andrews, the trio known as the Andrews Sisters, whose music swept the nation in the 1930s. Performances include some of the group’s most iconic hits, including “Oh Johnny Oh,” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
37th Annual Whiskey Row Marathon – May 2nd
This marathon is known as one of the toughest in the country, with a 10k marathon, 2 mile fun run and walk, half marathon and full marathon all at the same event. Registration is open even on the day of the event and all marathon proceeds benefit the YMCA.
9th Annual Grow Native Plant Sale and Outdoor Art Festival – May 2nd and 3rd
This event offers free admission and aims to educate attendees about the importance of conserving local plant species. Alongside local plant species, this festival will also be selling locally-made garden artwork, including yard sculptures and wind chimes.
11th Annual Prescott Highland Games – May 9th and 10th
Celebrate your Scottish heritage and have fun doing it at the Prescott Highland Games. This event features athletic, dance and bagpipe competitions, as well as live musical entertainment, great Celtic and American food, sheep herding dogs, and so much more.
The Phoenix Symphony – May 10th
If you enjoy classical music, come and see the Phoenix Symphony perform works by many famous composers, including Brahms, Williams and Koday. Joined by the Phoenix Boys’ Choir and the Phoenix Symphony Chorus, this will be a memorable night of beautiful music.
Prescott Opry – May 14th
If you are a country music fan, the Prescott Opry is difficult to beat, featuring legendary talent including Prescott native Ed Gary, Arizona artist J. David Sloan, rising star Sarah Peacock and one of the Opry audience’s favorites, Brush Arbor Revival.
House of Mammoths – May 15th
Craig Childs has journeyed all over the Americas to discover where the first human beings came from and what their lives were like. After two years of research, Childs shares his experiences in a multimedia adventure into the Ice Age.
Mile High Comedy Theater – May 16th
Treat yourself and your family to a night of stand-up, improvisational and sketch comedians that will leave you howling with laughter. At the Mile High Comedy Theater, you may find yourself watching the show and then becoming a part of it the next moment, so be prepared.
41st Annual Phippen Museum Western Show and Sale – May 23rd to May 25th
This long-standing Prescott tradition is free to the public and has helped launch many successful Western artists’ careers. Over 100 artists gather from across North America to display and sell their oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media and pastel artwork.
Prescott Premier All-Breed Horse Show – May 30th
Bring the family to see many breeds of beautiful horses, including Draft horses, Driving, English, Gaited horses, Halter, Leadline, Miniature horses, Paints, Quarter Horses, Show Breeds, Showmanship, Trail, Western horses, and many more.
Lights Out Golf Classic – May 30th
Enjoy 9 holes of golf, a live DJ, a silent auction, a barbecue dinner, a cash bar and fantastic raffle prizes in a golf tournament unlike any other. This golf tournament is perfect for guests of all ages and benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arizona.
