From having a great school system to offering many hiking and biking locations, Prescott, Arizona has many perks for families. The city is also a good place to find fun activities that everyone will enjoy. For instance, January activities in the area include visiting the farmers market, attending a children’s art show, listening to a concert and learning basic computer skills.
Winter Farmers Market
Make your way down to the Walgreens at 1310 Willow Creek Road to pick up some fresh and healthy groceries for the week. SNAP, WIC, debit, credit and cash are all accepted. What would normally be a boring trip to the supermarket will turn into a fun adventure for everyone involved. As long as your dog is kept under control, you can even bring Fido along! The Prescott Winter Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
STEPS Children’s Art Show
This event takes place at the ‘Tis Art Center and Gallery during gallery hours between Jan. 2 and Jan. 13. The art gallary can be found at 105 S. Cortez St. in Prescott. The STEPS art school has been giving children free art classes since 2011, so attending this art show is a good way to show your support for a worthwhile cause while getting the chance to pique your kids interest in a new hobby. The artists’ reception is on Jan. 3 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Prescott Chamber Players Society Winter Concert
If you’ve been trying to get your kids to listen to classical music to no avail, try making plans to attend this annual concert. The event takes place at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, which is located at 630 Park Avenue, on Jan. 11 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Admission is free, so even if no one in your family is a regular listener of classical music, this event is still worth attending. With around 25 performing members, you’ll get to hear many types of beautiful instruments.
PPL Basic Computer Skills Workshop
Some would argue that in today’s world, making sure that each person in your household can easily use a computer is just as important as making sure that everyone can read and do basic math. Thankfully, you can visit the Prescott Public Library at 215 E. Goodwin to learn all about using computers. A workshop focusing on basic computer skills is available on Jan. 8 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. While this event is mainly intended for adults, all are welcome. Your older children may already know almost as much about the subject as the instructor, but they’ll love to help – or show off – while you’re leaning everything for the first time.
There’s plenty to do with your family in Prescott this January. No matter what activities you do, you’ll be thankful for the time that you get to spend with your loved ones.
