    Prescott Film Festival

    The Prescott Film Festival has a few features on various dates throughout the month of February. In the days leading up to the Academy Awards, the short films that earned nominations are all being played. The Oscar nominated animated short films would be a perfect event to take the whole family. Several romantic films will be shown on Valentine’s Day. The event will conclude on February 21st when “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Timbuktu” are shown.

    Late Night Catechism

    The comedy show Late Night Catechism will be performing two shows on February 7th at the Prescott Center for the Arts. The show has been described Carol Burnett meets Loretta Young because of its blend of interactive and stand-up comedy. This unique comedy show has been regularly performed for audiences in Chicago and New York, so you know you are in for something special.

    National Theatre Live: Skylight

    You will have the chance to see some of the best actors in the world perform at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center on February 8th. Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan star in this live performance of “Skylight.” They have been seen in the films “Love Actually” and “The Great Gatsby,” and you can see them perform in person. “Skylight” is a story of two former lovers as they rekindled their relationship on a cold day in London.

    Salute to America Concert

    The Salute to America concert is a charity event that will celebrate the veterans of the Veitnam War. The 108th Army Band will put on a special performance, but the event will be headlined with a full concert by Jefferson Starship. While they have sold millions of albums worldwide, the residents of Prescott will be able to see Jefferson Starship for free at Yavapai College on February 13th.

    Music in Poetry, Poetry in Music Concert

    Another free concert will take place in Prescott on February 24th at the public library. Chris Lee and Colleen O’Brien make up the jazz duo Primal Mates, and they will be putting a unique concert that is unlike anything else you have seen. Primal Mates is going to blend jazz music with poetry at their show, so fans of both art forms will have a great time.

    Contra Dance

    The month of February will end with another great event for the residents of Prescott. The contra Dance will take place at First Congregational Church. Since contra dancing is a very social experience, it is the perfect event for families. The dances are extremely simple and are taught throughout the night, so everyone will be able to have a good time as they contra dance to Celtic music.
